Miss us?

You may have noticed a little bit of absence from us as of late. We can explain.

We've been eating. Everything in sight. I've been avoiding writing a blog post because I feel super blah, and blech, and blergh lately. Then, my friend Erin over at - The Fat Skinny Gal told me to shut up and just write about it. So, I am.

Relapse. Food relapse, and man has it been good. Pizza - chips - bread - bread - candy - bread.

Did I mention bread?

Normally when this happens it doesn't take me too long to snap out of it, but this time it's proving to be difficult. It could be that it's June now and I can count on one hand the number of sunny days we've had since "summer" started. It could be that I have been working a lot of extra hours and events and can't fathom going anywhere but home after work so that gym has been the furthest thought from my mind. It could be that I have been brainwashed by the local bakery and Little Debbie into buying and eating all of their goodies.

Or, it could be because I am just in a funk and can't get out of it. What do I do now? I guess the better question is, what do you do? What do you do when you can't get your hand out of the donut box, or when watching all of your DVR recordings trumps going to the gym?

Tell me. Please.

I'll just be over here...maybe doing this.
Probably doing this.
Or drinking gravy.

Food War

I think we've all been battling the food monster lately. We begin with such strength and then fizzle out in a pile of chocolate chips.

I found this article today on one of my favorite sites, CutandJacked.com. They have great nutrition tips and exercise advice.

12 Ways to Better Eating: The Mental Approach

Enjoy!

Fatty McFatterson

That's how I think we all feel at some point. We didn't post much last week, since it was my birthday week so I was busy eating cake and not eating cake. (I only ate cake ON my birthday and ON my celebration day..FYI.)

We've all been dealing with the satisfaction of eating great and going to the gym and also the guilt of doing the opposite of that exact thing. Do you do that? Feel guilt for eating that brownie...pan of brownies? What do you do when you feel guilty for eating that brownie? Do you get up and go to the gym? Do you eat good the rest of the day? Or, do you throw in the towel and eat the rest of those fucking brownies because, duh, they are delicious, amazing and told you that your hair looked great today.

I do that last thing. If you are like me, let go of the guilt. Eat the brownie and then move on. So what? It's a brownie. Brownies are good and good things in life aren't always knocking at your door. Enjoy the brownie. Save the rest for other people or for tomorrow. Keep the rest of your day on track and don't let that one, single, solitary, ooey, gooey, delicious brownie get you down.

Okay, so what if you can't walk away from those brownies? What if they are staring at you and begging you to eat them and if you don't they will harm your family? Well, you eat them. OR you can just not be around brownies. Or not bake brownies. OR make sure you  have some sort of alternate to brownies.

I'm sure that I'm not really being of any help to you right now...I just really want to eat a whole pan of brownies and needed to talk it out. So, thanks.

Measurements - UPDATED 4/24

Day 1.

I guess this is it. I'm about to share with you, the general internet public, our body measurements. We won't be posting photos today - we will post our beginning photos with our first set of results photos in two weeks.

Here's a handy chart of what we took measurements of, they may not be the "professional measurement taker standardized locations" or whatever, but it's the areas that we care about and the terms we use...like "fatty waist" which is the fattiest part of our stomachs - we know that this has a technical term but, probably like you, we really don't care or have time to care.

Now, here are our measurements*:

*You'll see that we will use our initials to dictate our column assignment. I wish that Stephanie's name started with a "C" so we could be "A, B, C" but instead we are "A, B, S" which is messing with my OCD. Whatever.

And there you have it...for the world to see.

You can tell by the measurements that we are built a little differently. It will be interesting to see how our different body types react to our diet and exercise. For example, B's legs are smaller than A's as reflected in the measurements but my butt is bigger than hers...which is plain to see...on so many levels.

Introduction

Well, here we are. "We" is Amber, Bernadette, and Stephanie. "We" are losing weight. "We" need a community to report to so that we don't sit down and eat an entire cake just because...and by 'just because' I mean 'delicious and fantastic and amazing and moist and chocolatey'.

We are all friends, Amber and Bernadette each have two kids (Amber - 2yrs, 8yrs; Bernadette - 3yrs, 9yrs), Stephanie doesn't have kids...yet.

You'll learn more about us as we make this journey right here in front of everyone. We will each write here so you can read about how we each are feeling as we make our progress, some days we will feel like total badasses and other days we will be crying and begging everyone to just please for the love of God mail us a cookie or just some crumbs of a cookie that you just ate...pretty please.

Here are a few bullet's to make us look professional and important:
  • We will post our measurements once per week.
  • We will post photos bi-weekly or monthly depending on progress.
  • We will be using nutrition and fitness sites for reference that are our favorites, we will credit and link to all information that isn't our own.
  • We would LOVE to hear from you in the comments, please keep it positive. Anything hateful or hurtful will be printed and mailed to your momma.
  • We will sign our posts with our name so that you know who is the author since we will both be posting.
  • We aren't suggesting you do what we do, because we don't know what the hell we are doing - we're just trying our best.
That's about it for now. Stay tuned. Beginning measurements will be posted today.
